St. Luke's offers a complete program of assessment and treatment for infants and children when developmental delays or disorders are suspected. Parents and the child's physician are closely involved in treatment planning.
Typically patients are seen from birth to 3 years old – at which time local school districts manage care through an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We also provide assessments and treatment for some pre-school and school-age children.

School IEP Recommendations
If a child of three or older is found to have a disability which affects the child's participation in educational activities and play — the local school district is required to prepare an IEP (Individualized Education Plan), which outlines the extent of the disability and types of services the school district will provide.
St. Luke's therapists provide recommendations to the local school district for each patient's IEP (Individualized Education Plan).

Inpatient Therapy
When infants and children are hospitalized with developmental concerns or disabilities, our therapists work closely with family members, medical staff and social workers to provide the best care and treatment.
Our Neonatal Nursery uses state of the art protocols to normalize the environment, providing a softly-lit, quiet environment for infants.
The neonatal development team provides formal assessments for pre-term and sick infants, and a care plan for nurses to follow, according to the infant's needs.
Our staff works closely with parents to show them how to care for their infant or young child who is ill or who is facing developmental disabilities or developmental delays.
