Pulmonary Function Testing
For patients with breathing difficulties, accurate Pulmonary Function Testing can determine the extent and severity of the problems to that a physician can establish an appropriate treatment regime.
For patients with asthma or COPD (chronic obstructive lung disease), sequential testing insures that treatments are maintaining optimum lung conditions.
Test results are interpreted by a physician and/or pulmonologist (lung specialist), and relayed to the patient's physician. St. Luke’s treats patients with care and dignity during all testing.
Pulmonary Function Testing may be ordered for patients with:
• pulmonary disorder
• Chronic lung disease
• Chronic obstructive lung disease
• Asthma
• Pneumonia
• Bronchitis

Respiratory Therapy (In-Patient)
If you have an acute episode of breathing difficulty, you may be admitted to the hospital for treatment. St. Luke's provides:
• Therapeutic bronchia dilator treatments
• Hydration
• Systemic medications to subdue acute symptoms
• Mechanical ventilation (intensive care), if necessary
